Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Party dominated the second day in the seventh Inter-service National Weightlifting competition held at Weightlifting Gymnasium in the capital on Monday.
On the day's men's section 81-kg weight category, Sumon Chandra Roy of Ansar emerged first position setting the new record lifting a total of 265-kg-110 kilograms in snatch and 155-kg in clean and jerk.
In the 61-kg weight category, Jibon Chandra Das of Ansar emerged first lifting total 219-kg -- 94-kg in snatch and 125-kg in clean and jerk.
Another weightlifter Baki Billah of Ansar emerged top in the 67-kg weight category lifting a total of 238-kg - 108-kg in snatch and 130-kg in clean and jerk.
In the 55-kgs weight category, Ashikur Rahman Taj of Bangladesh Army emerged top lifting a total of 215-kg - 97-kg in snatch and 118-kg in clean and jerk.
Another weightlifter Shimul Kanti Sighho of Bangladesh Army emerged top in the 73-kg weight category lifting a total of 242-kg - 112-kg in snatch and 130-kg in clean and jerk.
Meanwhile, five more weight categories events will be held today (Tuesday) of the three-day meet. The prize distribution ceremony will be held after the competition.
A total of 65 selected weightlifters-- 41 male and 24 female -- from five services teams are taking part in the meet, orgainsed by Bangladesh Weightlifting Federation (BWF).
The five services teams are Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Party, Bangladesh Jail, Border Guard Bangladesh and Fire Service and Civil Defense. —BSS
