Two get life-term for killing in Narail

A court in Narail on Tuesday sentenced a man to life-term imprisonment for killing a man namely Shaheb Ali in Kalia upazila in 2002.

District and Sessions Judge Md Shahjahan Ali handed down the verdict to Khalil Fakir and Maruf Fakir. Both of them were the residents at Rajapur village in Kalia upazila.
According to the prosecution, the convicts hacked Shaheb Ali to death at Rajapur village over land dispute on 19 October in 2002.

Following the murder, one Biswas Azizur Rahman filed a case with Kalia Police Station accusing 14 people.

The court also acquitted the rest 12 accused in the case as allegation brought against them could not be proved, said Additional Public Prosecutor Kazi Ziaur Rahman.

The court also fined Tk 10000 each; in default, they will have to serve six months more in jail.
