A motorcyclist was killed after being run over by a covered van at Mugda in the capital early Wednesday.
The accident occurred at around 1 am near Mugda Ideal School.
The dead was identified as Solaiman Hriday, 40, a resident of Mugda's Manda.
Matiur Rahman, brother-in-law of the deceased, said that Solaiman was returning to his home at Khilgaon riding on his motorcycle at night. On the way, a covered van ran over him. He was rescued in a critical condition and taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College at around 4:30 am where doctors declared him dead.
It was known that Solaiman has his own house at Mugda's Manda. However, he used to live in a rented house with his family in Khilgaon Member Goli. Solaiman is the owner of a shop at Manda Monka Bazar.
Dhaka Medical College Hospital Police Camp In-charge (Inspector) Md. Faruk confirmed the matter.
