July
Shaheed Smrity Foundation General Secretary Sarjis Alam on Saturday
said they would always take a firm stand against any radical
organisation like ISKCON that uses religion to incite communal strife.
He
made the remark at a ceremony in Mymensingh Town Hall, where the
Foundation distributed financial aid of Tk 5 lakh to the families of 55
victims of the July Uprising each.
Speaking to reporters after
the event, Sarjis said, "We want all such radical organisations that use
religion to incite communal violence and destabilise the country to be
banned. This is a clear demand we have consistently raised."
He
added, in the wake of the recent incidents in Chattogram, they have been
taking every possible step to counter the actions of radical members,
including those from ISKCON.
He also described some ISKCON
members involved in the incident as 'radicals' and stated, "We will not
hesitate to call them extremists. There is no excuse for such a horrific
act, where people are slaughtered in broad daylight."
Earlier in his speech at the event, Sarjis accused Sheikh Hasina and her accomplices of trying to thwart their efforts.
He
said, "The killers, Hasina and her accomplices, are doing everything
they can to prevent our success. If we fail, none of us here will have
any place left in this country."
Sarjis Alam also claimed that
the "evil conspiracies" against them are ongoing, and added, "With your
prayers, if I survive, I will ensure no victim's family or injured
person will ever be ignored."
The event was hosted by Mir Mahbubur Rahman Snigdho, the CEO of July Sheheed Smrity Foundation.
Additional
Divisional Commissioner (General) Md Yusuf Ali, Additional DIG (Crime)
of Police Mohammad Sharifur Rahman, District Commissioner Mufidul Alam,
Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) Shamim Hossain and
representatives from the Civil Surgeon's office spoke at the event.
Jartaz Parvin, mother of martyr Ahnaf, also addressed the event.
