HAKIMPUR, DINAJPUR, Dec 2: World AIDS Day was observed at Hili in Hakimpur Upazila of the district on Sunday in a befitting manner.
This year's theme of the Day is - "If rights are ensured, HIV/AIDS will be eradicated."
Hakimpur Upazila Health Complex organized different programmes on the occasion of the Day.
The programmes included bring out a rally and holding a discussion session.
The rally began at 10:45 am from the Upazila Health Complex premises, and it ended at the same place after parading main streets of the town.
After the rally, a discussion meeting was held in the conference room of the health complex, where the speakers emphasised on the importance of avoiding use of shared syringes, abstaining from unsafe sexual practices and following preventive measures to combat the spread of HIV/AIDS.
Additionally, a special booth was set up at the health complex to conduct HIV testing and provide counselling on HIV prevention.
The programme was presided over by Hakimpur Upazila Health Officer Dr Iltutmis Akhand.
Dr Humayun Kabir, Dr Tanmoy Sarker, Dr Sultan Mahmud and Robiul Awal, among others, also spoke on the occasion.
