Rice mills owner fined Tk one lakh in Tangail

A team of the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP), in a drive, fined the owner of an auto rice mills Tk 1 lakh for storing rice in plastic bags and various other irregularities in Kalihati Upazila of Tangail on Wednesday.

A team of the District DNCRP led by its Assistant Director (AD) Shikder Shahinur Alam conducted the drive at M/S Janani Auto Rice Mill in East Beddoba area of Kalihati in the afternoon and fined its owner the amount for storing rice in plastic bags, not mentioning the variety of rice, not mentioning expiry date, violating government regulations and other irregularities.
Members of the law enforcement agencies assisted in the operation.
DNCRP AD Shikder Shahinur Alam confirmed the matter, adding that such drives will continue in the district.
