The government on Thursday announced a reshuffle of senior police officials, including appointments within the Tourist Police, Industrial Police, and other divisions. The Home Ministry's Public Security Division issued separate notifications outlining the changes.
Former Dhaka Metro-politan Police (DMP) Commissioner Md Mainul Islam has been appointed as the Additional Inspector General (current charge) of Tourist Police. At the same time, Tourist Police Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Abu Kalam Siddique has been transferred to serve as the new DIG of Industrial Police. Industrial Police DIG Kazi Md Fazlul Karim has been reassigned to the Police Headquarters as DIG.
In other changes, CID DIG SN Md Nazrul Islam has been transferred to the DMP as an Additional Commissioner, while Anti-Terrorism Unit Additional DIG Sultana Nazma Hossain has been appointed as a joint commissioner of the DMP. DMP Joint Commissioner Mohammad Taherul Haque Chowhan has been promoted to Additional Commissioner of Gazipur Metropolitan Police, and Gazipur's Additional Commissioner Md Delwar Hossain has been transferred to the CID as an Additional DIG.
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Additional Superintendent of Police (SP) Shamim Ara Begum has been promoted to SP, though she has not yet been assigned to a specific post. Meanwhile, other promoted Additional SPs have received new appointments. Mohammad Jasim Uddin from the DMP, Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad from the Tourist Police, and Shah Md Abdur Rauf from the PBI have been transferred to the DMP as Deputy Commissioners.
Shafiqul Islam from the Barishal Range has been posted to the Khulna Metropolitan Police as a Deputy Commissioner, while Mohammad Kamruzzaman from the TDS has been transferred to the Police Staff College as Superintendent of Police. Md Salauddin from the CID remains within the CID, where he has been posted as Superintendent of Police.
