The second edition of Taste of Bangladesh Food Festival opens today (Friday) in the city under the joint initiative of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism and Tourism Board. This four-day event will feature Bangladesh's traditional dishes from different regions.
It will be an exciting event at Banani's Mustafa Kamal Ataturk Park, said Bangladesh Tourism Board CEO Abu Taher Muhammad Jaber at a press conference on Thursday. The first edition of Taste of Bangladesh Food Festival was held in 2023.
A F Hasan Arif, Advisor to the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism will inaugurate the festival in which 62 regional stalls will be participating with seasonal and traditional foods.
Exotic food items like Dhaka's Beauty Lachchi; Lalbagh's Kachchi Biryani; Faizane Medina's famous Bobar Biryani; Bakarkhani; Bismilla's Kebab; Comilla's Rasmalai, Sherpur's Chanar Payesh will be among the best attractions.
Five-star hotels such as Intercontinental Dhaka, Pan Pacific Sonargaon, Sheraton Dhaka will present their Bangladeshi cuisine in a different way. Bangladesh Tourism Corporation and SME entrepreneurs will also participate with their exotic food. There will be a Gen Z Hangout Corner with the food of the young generation.
Besides this, pleasant cultural programs will be organized on the event. The four-day event will also feature regional traditional cultural performances.
There will be a regional traditional GI product corner, musical instrument corner, and a fun experience with Bangladeshi food with the participation of foreign guests.
Mohammad Jaber further said the Food Festival is a unique initiative of Bangladesh Tourism Board, Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism. The programme will sustainably promote and shape the regional traditional food, create awareness about Bangladeshi food, promote gastronomy tourism and showcase the diverse regional food to domestic and foreign visitors.
He said Bangladesh Tourism Board's Taste of Bangladesh Food Festival is being organized by Dhaka North City Corporation, WASHA, DESCO, Fire Service, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Gulshan Zone, Tourist Police and SME Foundation, Bangladesh Safe Food Authority, Dhaka Banani Society.
In addition, Spellabound Communication Limited, Ice Cream Partner Polar Ice Cream, Corporate Partner Runner Automobile and RR Cable, EV Partner BYD, are playing a role as event planning and implementation partners.
Abu Taher Muhammad Jaber said, "We organized the first Taste of Bangladesh in 2023. A large number of visitors came there and it became popular. We think this year's event will be better than last year's," he said.
