Three minor children drowned in separate incidents in two districts - Bhola and Jhenidah, on Thursday and Friday.
LALMOHAN, BHOLA: A minor boy drowned in a pond in Lalmohan Upazila of the district on Friday.
The incident took place in Ward No. 6 Fulbagicha area under Lalmohan Sadar Union of the upazila in the morning.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Jurayez, 2, son of Md Liakat Hossain Rubel of the same area.
It was known that Jurayez along with his mother went to his maternal grandparents' house, where he fell in pond while his relatives were unaware of it.
Later on, he was rescued, but a village doctor declared him dead.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Lalmohan Police Station (PS) Md Sirajul Islam confirmed the incident, adding that legal action would be taken if any written complaint is received from the deceased's family members in this regard.
JHENIDAH: Two minor children drowned in the Buribhairb River in Kaliganj Upazila of the district on Thursday.
The bodies were recovered from the river in Hasilbag Village under Barobazar Union of the upazila in the evening.
The deceased were identified as Chayan, 7, son of Shawkat Ali of Hasilbagh Village, and Abir Hasan, 5, son of Abu Saleh.
Police and local sources said that Chayan and Abir went out to play on Thursday morning. They could not be found despite searching all day. At one point, when the family became suspicious after they were missing for the whole day, they went to the nearby Buribhairab River to search.
Later on, the bodies of the two were recovered from the river by their relatives.
Kaliganj PS OC Shahidul Islam Hawlader confirmed incident, adding that it was initially seemed that the two boys drowned in the river.
