FENI, Dec 14: Marginal poultry farm owners in the district will suspend their activities from January 1 for an indefinite time if their problems are not solved.
As part of their four-point demand, Bangladesh Marginal Poultry Farm Association declared the suspension of activities of poultry across the country.
On Friday afternoon, Association Chairman Mafizul Islam Mallik made this declaration at a meeting of Feni District Committee for Protection of Marginal Poultry Farms as the key speaker.
The meeting was held in a hotel conference room at Mizan Road in Feni.
"We have been failure in the last four years in movement for solving our problems. Nobody came to understand our problem," he added.
After the meeting, 31-member committee of Feni District was formed, with Emdadul Haq Shimul as president, Sakhawat Hossain general secretary (GS) and Md Amir Hossain Farazi senior joint GS.
District Livestock Services Officer Dr Mozammel Haq, Livestock Services Department's Senior Scientific Officer Dr Subrata Sarkar, Agriculturist Md Joglul Haidar, Janata Adhikar Party's Central Committee Chairman Tariqul Islam, AB Party's Central Member Engineer Shah Alam Badal, Central Committee's Secretary of the association Saidur Rahman Saidi and Senior Assistant Organising Secretary Kazi Sharif Uddin Khan were present special guests at the meeting.
Among others, President of AB Party's Women Branch Jahanara Aktar Moni, Poultry farmers Abdul Hai, Imam Hossain Munna, Md Ekram Hossain, Md Abu Sayed, and Shahdat Hossain Shifon spoke.
The meeting was presided over by Central Committee Vice-President MA Mannan.
