In a bid to ensure overall security of Dhaka University (DU) students, the administration of the university on Saturday imposed restrictions on vehicular movement on the campus.

An emergency notice issued by the university's Proctor Office announced that no vehicles, other than those with DU stickers, or those belonging to emergency services (ambulances, doctors, patients, journalists and other government vehicles) will be allowed to enter the campus from 3:00pm to 10:00pm on Fridays, Saturdays and public holidays and from 5:00pm to 10:00pm on office days.

The university had previously begun to control entry to the area by barricading seven entrances at Shahbagh, Doyel Chattar, Burn Unit, Shibbari Crossing, Fuller Road, Palashi Intersection and Nilkhet.
