July Shaheed Smrity Foundation General Secretary Md Sarjis Alam said on Saturday that the nature of the relationship between India and Bangladesh will be determined by their actions.
"If India wants to maintain a good relationship with Bangladesh, they must stop sheltering murderer Sheikh Hasina and return her to Bangladesh. The people of Bangladesh will serve justice to her," Sarjis said.
He made the remarks at an event organised by the July Shaheed Smrity Foundation at the Rajshahi Shilpakala Academy.
Sarjis said anyone who betrays the spirit of the July-August uprising, including the Chief Adviser Prof Dr Muhammad Yunus, will not be spared.
Expressing anger, Sarjis said instead of punishing the police officers who fired bullets, efforts are being made to transfer them to new posts. He alleged that several political party leaders and senior officials of the administration are involved in the business of filing false cases.
He questioned the need to exhume the bodies of the martyrs of July-August, saying that if there is no need to exhume the body of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman for the trial of his murder, why should the bodies of the martyrs of the July-August uprising be exhumed?
He warned that no more martyrs' bodies should be exhumed.
Later, Sarjis Alam, also Chief Organiser of the National Citizen Committee, handed over cheques to the families of the martyrs of the July-August uprising in the Rajshahi Division. A total of 46 out of 63 families in the division received financial assistance of Tk 5,000,00 each from the July Shaheed Smrity Foundation.
