Railway staff held over controversial message on digital billboard

Police have detained a staff of Khulna Railway Station on charge of his alleged involvement in displaying messages from banned Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) on the station's screen on Saturday evening (December 14).

The man was Aslam Hossain Sentu, operator of the digital screen.

According to the witnesses, the message that stated, "BCL will return dangerously, Sheikh Hasina will make a comeback. Joy Bangla, Joy Bangabandhu". Local people, students and BNP activists staged protest over the incident.

Ferdous Alam Khan, Officer-in-Charge of Khulna Railway Police, said the railway authorities switched off the digital screen immediately.
They came to know that Sentu controls the digital screen. So the locals and authorities detained him and handed him over to police. Legal steps will be taken against him, the OC said.
