A court in Dhaka has placed arrested banned Bangladesh Chhara Leage (BCL) leader Nishita Iqbal Nodi and three others BCL workers on a two-day remand in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act with Kalabagan Police Station in the capital.

The court placed them on remand after they were produced before it on Sunday (December 15).

Earlier, the investigation officer of the case pleaded to the court, saying that at about 6:00am on December 13, the banned BCL activists brought out a procession from in front of Al Baraka Restaurant premises at Kalabagan area in the capital. Some 100-150 leaders and workers of BCL took part in the procession. They chanted anti-government slogans. So, placing them on remand is necessary to find out who were their financiers and planners.

Nishita Iqbal Nodi is former vice-president of the Dhaka University's (DU) Shamsunnahar Hall unit of banned student organization BCL.

She was arrested during a raid at Bhatara police station area in the capital on Saturday (December 14) night.

There was an allegation against her of leading a swift procession of Chhatra League at Dhanmondi area on Friday (December 13).
