The High Court on Sunday (December 15) issued a rule asking the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) why its inertia to investigate misappropriation of US$500 crore from Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant project by deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina, her son Sajib Wazed Joy and niece Tulip Siddique won't be declared illegal.

A High Court bench comprising Justice Fahmia Quader and Justice Mubina Asaf issued the rule.
Earlier on September 3 last, Jatiyatabadi Ganatantrik Dal chairman Boby Hajjaj filed a writ with the High Court seeking directives to investigate misappropriation of US dollar worth Tk 60,000 crore of Rooppur Nuclear Plant

In the writ, the petitioner challenged the inertia of the anti-graft watchdog. Fourteen people were made respondents in the writ.
