Winter clothes were distributed among 1,400 cold-hit destitute people in three districts - Natore, Bhola and Kushtia, on Saturday.
NATORE: A total of 800 cold-hit disables and helpless people of Chalanbeel area in Singra Upazila of the district were given winter clothes on Saturday.
Palli Kallyan Shikkha Society (PKSS), a non-government organization, organized the distribution programme with the financial support of Elite Garments.
Singra Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Majharul Islam inaugurated the programme at PKSS office in the upazila town as the chief guest.
PKSS Executive Director Daisy Ahmed, Singra Upazila Press Club President Saiful Islam, Environment Activist Abdul Alim Khawaja and Member of the Upazila Anti-Corruption Committee Abu Bakkar Siddique, among others, were also present at the inaugural function.
UNO Majharul Islam called upon the elite society and businessmen to stand beside the helpless and the poor people to abate their sufferings in this situation.
LALMOHAN, BHOLA: Winter clothes were distributed among 500 destitute people in Lalmohan Upazila of the district on Saturday.
Uddipan, a non-government organization, organized the distribution programme at Lalmohan Upazila Parishad auditorium in the afternoon.
Lalmohan UNO Md Shah Aziz was present as the chief guest while Winter Project Deputy Manager and Focal Person of Uddipan Rawshan Jannat Rushni presided over the programme.
Upazila Social Services Officer Md Masud, Social Development Programme's Community Relation Officer of Uddipan's headquarters Fahmida Afroz, its Char Fasson Region Manager Faruq Hossain Khan, and Bhola Region Manager Md Hasibur Rahman, among others, were also present during the distribution.
DAULATPUR, KUSHTIA: Blankets were given among more than 100 cold-hit poor people of Daulatpur Upazila in the district on Saturday.
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) organized the distribution programme at Uday Nagar Atapara under Chilmari Union in the upazila.
BGB 47 Battalion Commander Lt Col Mahbub Morshed Rahman, PSC, handed over the blankets to the cold-hit people as the chief guest.
Social worker Abu Sufian Opu, BGB officials, and local representatives were also present there.
