Following a meeting of the Law and Order Advisory Committee, Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan on Sunday announced that the operation to arrest Awami League leaders and activists involved in various unlawful activities would be further intensified.

The decision was made after a discussion on improving the law and order situation in the country. The meeting, held at the Ministry of Home Affairs, was chaired by Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant Gen (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury.

"As part of our overall strategy to improve law and order and to ensure the smooth conduct of upcoming events, we have discussed how to maintain order and discipline," Asif Mahmud said. "We had a good discussion, and I hope that the upcoming events will be conducted peacefully."

Asif also addressed recent developments concerning unlawful activities and said, "Over the past few days, we have noticed some activities. Based on this, we have decided to intensify arrest operations nationwide. You will likely see the results soon."
He further accused members of the former fascist government of continuing to provoke unrest.

"Those who are still outside, from the previous fascist government, are trying to provoke different groups, funding them and attempting to organise protests. Yesterday, several individuals were arrested," he said, adding, "They are conspiring to destabilise the country, and those against whom there are clear charges and lawsuits will be arrested."

Regarding the photo of Chhatra League's return that had been circulated on social media, Asif Mahmud expressed doubts about its authenticity.

"The photo that was circulated yesterday, there are questions regarding its authenticity," he said. "Our intelligence agencies have informed us that it is either a photo from another time or has been edited. The 'Chhatra League' text was added later."

When asked about the planned protests by the Awami League and Chhatra League, Asif Mahmud commented, "We have seen that they have announced programmes for tomorrow (Victory Day). Similar announcements have been made in the past, but these programmes did not take place. The law enforcement agencies are keeping a vigilant eye on the situation."

In response to a question about the possibility of disorder caused by the Awami League and Chhatra League, Asif Mahmud said, "They could create disorder at any time. The possibility remains until they are fully eliminated."
