A woman died and her husband was injured in a road accident on Monday in Meherpur's Gangni upazila.
The accident occurred at Hawrapara of Chhatiyan village in the upazila.
The deceased was Hira Begum, 45, wife of injured Sajjadul Islam, hailed from Baradi village in Meherpur Sadar upazila.
Gangni Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Bani Israil confirmed the news.
According to eyewitnesses, Sajjadul Islam and his wife were traveling on a motorcycle to visit their son-in-law's house. When they reached in that area, a truck coming from behind hit them. Hira Begum was struck by the truck’s wheel, causing her death on the spot.
Locals rescued Sajjadul Islam in critical condition and admitted him to a nearby clinic.
OC Bani Israil said that the body of the deceased was recovered and taken to the police station.
