Information and Broadcasting Adviser Nahid Islam said on Monday that while victory was achieved in the 1971 Liberation War, the full realisation of independence came with the people's uprising in 2024.

"On this day, we remember all the martyrs of the great Liberation War. Along with them, we also pay our respects to the martyrs of the July uprising. While we achieved victory in 1971, that independence was not fully safeguarded. The full realisation of our independence came through the 2024 people's uprising," said Nahid.
The Adviser made the remarks after paying homage to the martyrs of the Liberation War at the National Martyrs' Memorial at Savar.

He said, "Through this victory in 2024, people of the country are finally tasting true freedom in a Bangladesh free of Awami fascism."

Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojibb Bhuiyan said, "For our generation, today is the true Victory Day. Before this, we could not even speak freely or celebrate victory. This freedom was earned through the blood of the martyrs of the July uprising. From 1971 to 2024, the struggle for our independence and liberation has been ongoing, and with the people of the country, we are committed to building a beautiful Bangladesh."
