Temporary rail workers, who blocked the Tejgaon rail line in the capital from Tuesday morning, left the place after being assured that they would receive their unpaid wages by December 19.
Before leaving, the protesters warned that they will again blocked the rail line if they do not receive their salaries by Thursday.
"We will take position on the rail line until to receive the unpaid salaries."
At least 200 workers under a banner took positions at the FDC Rail Crossing area around 10:30AM demanding five months' of unpaid wages, bringing train service to a halt.
These temporary labourers (TLRs) are paid on a daily basis. They are not employees of the railways.
Mohammad Abdul Quader, who works as a gateman, said that they have not been paid their wages for the last five months, with December being the sixth month of unpaid work.
Md Mohiuddin Arif, Railway's Dhaka Divisional Manager, who was on the scene, said to media that the salaries are due for the lack of allocation from where they are paid and the IBUS complications. "We have now received the allocation. The salaries will be paid in the next two days."
