200 children fall sick eating pre-Xmas food at Kotalipara

GOPALGANJ, Dec 17: About 200 children fell sick in Kotalipra Upazila of the district after eating food of pre-Christmas Day on Monday evening.  

Of them, 60 children were admitted to hospital, said Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shahunur Aktar; 40-50 more are waiting to be admitted, he added.

The pre-Christmas function was arranged at Kandi Church at Kandi Union in the upazila.

Kandi Church arranged the feast programme with its listed 320 children at 9am. These children were given Biriani lunch packets at 2pm. After  eating the food, they started  vomiting and developed loose motion in the evening.

Later on, guardians took them to upazila health complex. According to latest  information, over 100 children were given     primary treatment in the hospital. 

The number of patients is increasing, the hospital sources said.
