A fire broke out at three clothing stores in Khulna city's Khalishpur area on Tuesday night.
The blaze originated around 1AM, opposite the Power House intersection on the Khulna BIDC Road, according to officials on Wednesday.
Monirul Islam, the owner of the Jyoti Fashion, one of the affected stores, said he closed the shop at 10PM on Tuesday and went home. At around 2AM, he came to know over mobile phone of the security guard that there was a fire in his shop.
Later, he rushed to the spot and saw locals were trying to douse the blaze. At that time, they informed the fire service by calling 999.
Three fire fighting units rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control within half an hour.
Khalishpur Fire Service Senior Station Officer Abdul Malek said the reason behind the fire is short circuit and the damage caused by the blaze was around Tk 15-16 lakh.
