Dear Sir

The recent fire at three clothing stores in Khulna's Khalishpur area is a stark reminder of the pressing need for improved fire safety measures. The blaze, which erupted around 1 AM and was controlled by local firefighting units within half an hour, originated from a short circuit and caused significant damage estimated at Tk 15-16 lakh.

This incident underscores the importance of proactive steps to prevent such tragedies. Conducting regular checks on electrical systems can help identify and address potential hazards. Ensuring that all commercial establishments are equipped with functioning fire extinguishers and that staff are adequately trained to use them is crucial. Maintaining unobstructed and clearly marked emergency exits facilitates safe evacuations. Installing and frequently testing smoke detectors and fire alarms provide early warnings of potential fires. Lastly, training employees on fire safety protocols and emergency response actions is essential.

By adopting these safety measures, we can protect our businesses and communities, reduce the incidence of fires, and save lives. It's imperative that we prioritize fire safety to prevent such devastating incidents in the future.
