Bangladesh clinched the T20i series against the West Indies with a commanding 28-run victory in the second match of the three-game series at Arnos Vale Ground, Kingstown in St Vincent on Tuesday. The win handed the Tigers an unassailable 2-0 lead marking their first T20i series triumph over the West Indies since 2018.

West Indies won the toss and opted to chase inviting Bangladesh to bat first. Stand-in skipper Liton Das, experimenting with the batting order, opened alongside Soumya Sarkar, while Tanzid Hasan Tamim was moved to one-down. But the experiment backfired as Liton fell for three, followed shortly by Tanzid (2). Soumya's dismissal for 11 left Bangladesh in deep trouble at 39 for three.

Middle-order contributions helped stabilize the innings. Mehidy Hasan Miraz scored a crucial 26 and Jaker Ali chipped in with 21. The highlight of the innings however, was Shamim Hossain Patwari's blistering unbeaten 35 off just 17 balls, which lifted Bangladesh to a respectable total of 129 for seven in their allotted 20 overs.

Gudakesh Motie was the standout bowler for the hosts taking two for 25. Akeal Hosein, Roston Chase, Alzarri Joseph and Obed McCoy each claimed one wicket.

In pursuit of 130 runs to win, the West Indies struggled against Bangladesh's disciplined bowling. They lost wickets at regular intervals, with four batters departing for ducks. Despite efforts from Roston Chase (32) and Akeal Hosein (31), their innings fell apart as the hosts were bowled out for 102 in 18.3 overs. Johnson Charles was the only other batter to reach double digits contributing 14 runs.

Bangladesh's bowlers were in top form led by Taskin Ahmed, who picked up three for 16. Mahedi Hasan, Rishad Hossain and Tanzim Hasan Sakib each claimed two wickets, while Hasan Mahmud took one.

Shamim Hossain Patwari's late surge with the bat earned him the Player of the Match award showcasing his ability as a perfect finisher.

With the series already in the bag, Bangladesh will aim to secure a clean sweep in the final match on Thursday, while the West Indies will look to restore some pride.
