NSU celebrates Victory Day 2024

North South University (NSU) commemorated Victory Day 2024 with a vibrant celebration featuring discussion session and cultural program on Wednesday. 

Major General (Retd.) Imam-uz-zaman Bir Bikram was present as the chief guest at the programme presided over by Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, the Vice-Chancellor of NSU, joined by esteemed Deans, Directors, Department Heads, Senior Officials, Faculty members, and enthusiastic students.
The ceremony commenced with a recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by the rendition of the National Anthem and a poignant minute of silence paying homage to the martyrs.

Professor Abdur Rob Khan, Pro Vice-Chancellor (IC) and Treasurer of NSU, extended a warm welcome with an inaugural address, setting the tone for the event.

Professor AKM Waresul Karim, Dean, School of Business and Economics, NSU, delivered his welcome speech. He said, “Today, we remember those who gave everything for our independence. As educators, we must ensure that our students learn about the past and are inspired to contribute to the nation’s future.”

Special Guest Mr. Azim Uddin Ahmed, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, NSU, said, “Victory Day carries profound significance for all of us. It is a day to honor our freedom fighters' courage, determination, and sacrifices.”

Chief Guest Major General (Retd.) Imam-uz-zaman delivered a compelling speech, emphasizing the significance of Victory Day. He said, “As a proud freedom fighter, I urge the youth to understand the true essence of Victory Day.We've got to build a welfare state free from terrorism and corruption, ideology and discrimination.”

Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Vice-Chancellor of NSU, stated, “Bangladeshis have never bowed to oppression. We rise and make sacrifices when dignity is at stake, as seen in the Liberation War. Unity defines us as a nation—we stand together for our country. To the young students: commit to your education and personal growth. Strive to become enriched individuals ready to take Bangladesh to the next level. Your knowledge and dedication will shape the future of our nation.”

Following the engaging discussion session, NSU Sangskritik Sangathan (NSUSS) presented a lively cultural program, adding an artistic flair to the commemoration.
