The next meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) will be held on Monday next where 8 projects, including the Chilmari River Port, in Kurigram will be approved.
The total cost of implementing these projects is estimated at Tk 1,500 crore.
According to sources in the Planning Ministry, the projects to be presented in the meeting are: River Port Construction Project in Chilmari Area (Ramna, Jorgach, Rajibpur, Roumari and Nayahat); Ashuganj-Palash Sabuj Project.
Sustainable Agriculture Technology Expansion Project in Comilla Region; Economically Lost Life Cycle Rubber Tree Felling-Replanting and Rubber Processing Modernization Project; Procurement and Installation of 60 MMSCFD Capacity Process Plant for Bhola North Gas Field;
It also includes Rashidpur-11 Well Drilling Project; 2D Seismic Survey Over Exploration Block 7 and 9 Project; and 60 Day-Care Center Project of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs.
The source said another project, 'Establishment of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park' in Maulvi Bazar, may also be presented for cancellation in the meeting.
The source further said among others, six projects approved by the Planning Advisor earlier may be presented for information in the meeting. These projects are: widening of Madani Avenue to Balu River and road construction project from Balu River to Shitalakshya River;
It also includes exportable mango production project; non-human consumption of selected crops and crop loss and wastage assessment survey project; family nutrition garden establishment project in uncultivated fallow land and homestead courtyards; project to update the Red List of Bangladesh's fauna and the Fourth Primary Education Development Program (PIDP-4) project.
