Dhaka eliminated from NCL T20 despite a victory

Despite a 19-run victory against Barishal Division, Dhaka made an exit from the NCL T20 group phase as they failed to enhance the net run rate on Thursday at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.

Dhaka indeed needed a big victory to beat Chattogram by net run rate and Chattogram's defeat to Dhaka Metro opened the gate for them. But they failed to do what they needed to do.

Opting to bat first, Dhaka were bowled out for 178 in 20 overs with Sumon Khan making highest 23 ball-36 not out. Opener Zawad Abrar made 32 while Ariful Islam blasted 10 ball-27 but none of them could attack Barishal bowlers for a prolonged time, which could give them a big total.
Barishal, which finished at bottom table, could put up 159-6 with Kamrul Islam Rabbi making team-best 39 not out.     —BSS
