Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto led from the front as Rajshahi ended NCL T20 tournament with winning note by romping to a 16-run victory over Sylhet at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Thursday.
Elimination from the tournament before playoffs were decided for both teams ahead of the game, so it was just a match to secure a consolation victory.
Both of the teams however finished the tournament with two wins, with Rajshahi claiming sixth spot due to better run rate. Sylhey finished, occupying seventh spot.
Shanto smashed 48 ball-78 with six fours and five sixes to steer Rajshahi to 181-8 after his side was put into bat first. Sabbir Hossan scored 30, Habibur Rahman added 25 and Towhid Hridoy chipped-in-with 21.
Fast bowler Syed Khaled Ahmed grabbed 3-24 for Sylhet while Ebadot Hossain and Tofael Ahmed bagged two wickets apiece.
Sylhet were able to pile up 155-8 before conceding the defeat. Openr Jishan Alam who kick-started the tournament with a whirlwind century, hammered 32 ball-60 this time with two fours and five sixes.
Asaduzzaman Payled snapped up 4-24 for Rajshahi. —BSS
