Hearing the news of interim government's Aviation and Tourism, and Land Adviser, AF Hassan Ariff's death, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir rushed to the LabAid Hospital in the capital on Friday afternoon.
There, he spoke with Hassan Ariff's family and relatives, expressing his condolences.
Leaving the hospital, Mirza Fakhrul said: "Hassan Ariff's was not only a distinguished lawyer but also a prominent believer in democracy. His vacuum will not be fulfilled easily. He was needed at this time."
He continued: "Personally, I have lost a dear friend. The country has lost a patriotic individual."
The BNP secretary general added that his absence would not be easily filled.
Earlier, at around 3:10pm on Friday, Adviser AF Hassan Ariff passed away due to a heart attack at LabAid Hospital in the capital. He was 83.
In the evening, BNP Media Cell member Shairul Kabir Khan informed that senior BNP leaders had expressed their condolences over the death of Hassan Ariff.
