Bangladesh concluded their three-match T20i series against the West Indies in emphatic fashion clinching an 80-run victory in the final match at the Arnos Vale Ground in St Vincent on Wednesday. This comprehensive win not only secured a clean sweep but also marked the first time Bangladesh whitewashed the West Indies in a three-match T20i series.

The Tigers have previously achieved clean sweeps in three-match T20i series against Ireland in 2012 and England in 2023.
President Mohammed Shahabuddin, Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud SajeebBhuiyan and Acting Chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP)Tarique Rahman extended their congratulations to the Tigers on their emphatic triumph over the West Indies.
Winning the toss, Bangladesh opted to bat first with one change to their lineup as Soumya Sarkar was dropped due to an injury sustained during the second match. Parvez Hossain Emon was brought in to open alongside stand-in skipper Liton Das.Liton's lean patch with the bat continued as he managed only 14 runs, while TanzidTamim fell cheaply for nine. Emon however, justified his selection with an aggressive knock of 39 runs off 21 balls giving Bangladesh a strong start.

The middle order again showed steadiness asMehidy Hasan Miraz chipped in with a valuable 29 off 23 balls butthe innings was anchored by Jaker Ali, who played a scintillating unbeaten knock of 72 runs off 41 balls featuring three boundaries and six over-boundaries. His heroics powered Bangladesh to a formidable total of 189 for seven in their allotted 20 overs.

The total is the highest ever at this venue and Bangladesh's best in the Caribbean.

Romario Shepherd was the pick of the West Indies bowlers claiming two wickets for 30 runs in his four overs. Roston Chase, GudakeshMotieand Alzarri Joseph each took a wicket, but the hosts struggled to contain the aggressive Bangladeshi batting lineup.

Chasing 190, the West Indies stumbled from the outset losing wickets at regular intervals. Romario Shepherd top-scored with 33 runs off 27 balls but found little support from his teammates. Johnson Charles (23), Nicholas Pooran (15) and GudakeshMotie (12) were the only other batters to reach double figures. The hosts were eventually bowled out for 109 in 16.4 overs, which is their lowest T20i total against Bangladesh.

Bangladesh's bowlers delivered a disciplined performance, with Rishad Hossain leading the attack. He claimed three wickets for 21 runs ending the year with 35 scalps, the most by any Bangladeshi bowler in a calendar year. Besides, Sheikh Mahedi Hasan and Taskin Ahmed contributed with two wickets each, while TanzimSakib and Hasan Mahmud shared one apiece. Their combined efforts ensured the West Indies never gained momentum in their chase.

Jaker Ali was named the Player of the Match for his match-winning knock, while Sheikh Mahedi Hasan was adjudged the Player of the Series for his all-round contributions of eight wickets and 37 runs across the series.

This historic series sweep underscores Bangladesh's growing prowess in the shortest format and sets a strong tone for their future T20iendeavours.
