Over 100 people were injured during a clash between two groups over mosque funds in Teghoria Union under Habiganj Sadar Upazila on Saturday morning.
Quoting the local sources, Alamgir Kabir, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Habiganj Sadar Model police station, said a meeting was held in Tongirgha village on Friday night over the mosque funds amounting Tk14 lakh.
Two groups led by Md Taibullah and Alhaj Mia engaged in a dispute over the funds.
Locals said currently the mosque has not a committee. So, Alhaj Mia wanted to use the funds for the development of the mosque and Taibullah insisted the money be deposited in a bank.
But, during the meeting, the two groups locked into an argument and scuffles, leading to a clash on Saturday morning.
Being informed, police rushed to the scene and brought the situation under control.The injured were admitted to the Habiganj Modern Sadar Hospital.
Legal actions would be taken against those responsible, the police official said adding that no complaint has been filed yet.
