BIJOYNAGAR, BRAHMANBARIA, Dec 21: Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized smuggled goods worth about Tk 66.46 lakh in Bijoynagar Upazila of the district on Friday.
According to a press release, acting on a tip-off, a patrol team from Brahmanbaria Transit Camp under Sarail Battalion (BGB-25) conducted the drive at around 5 am in Chandura Bypass area of Chandura Union. Upon sensing the presence of BGB, the smugglers abandoned the goods and fled the scene.
The seized items included 43,440 pieces of various Indian capsules, 289 pieces of medicine, 39 bottles of Q-Carpene olive oil, and 1,000 pieces of Mond cigarettes.
The process of handing over the seized goods to Akhaura Customs Office is currently underway, the press release added.
