MUNSHIGANJ, Dec 22: A man has been killed and at least 15 others have been injured in multi-vehicle collision due to low visibility amid dense fog in Munshiganj's Sreenagar and Sirajdikhan of the Dhaka-Mawa expressway. The accidents occurred from early Sunday to 9:00am, Fire Service confirmed. Following the accidents, traffic congestion was created on the highway.
The deceased was Farhad Hossain, 40, a resident of Bhanga in Faridpur and the driver of one of the colliding buses. The injured 15 were sent to different hospitals in Sreenagar and Sirajdikhan.
Abul Kalam Azad, In-charge of Sreenagar Fire Service, said, "We rescued 10 to 15 from different spots. The vehicles movement on the highway became normal after 10:00am. The injured were sent to local hospitals."
Police said the movement of vehicles on the expressway has been suspended for around two hours following the crashes involving seven buses, truck and a private car. Heavy fog led to the accidents on the expressway, said locals.
Sreenagar Upazila Health Complex emergency ward physician Marjia Mahbub said around 9:45am, two injured--Farhad Hossain and Zakir Hossain--were brought to the hospital.
