NARAYANGANJ, Dec 22: A court has issued a two-day remand order for police to interrogate three suspects in their custody in the case over the death of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology student Mohtassim Masud, who was run over by a car in Narayanganj's Rupganj.

Senior Judicial Magistrate Kazi Nur Mohsin issued the order on Sunday. On Friday, Police requested the suspects to be remanded for five days. The defence lawyer appealed for the suspects' bail on Sunday.

The judge heard from both sides, turned down the bail plea, and remanded the suspects for two days, said Inspector Qayum Khan, the officer-in-charge of Narayanganj Court Police.

The remanded suspects are Mubin Al Mamun, 20, Mirajul Karim, 22, and Asif Chowdhury, 19.

BUET student Masud was standing at a Rupganj police checkpost on the 300-Feet Road in the Purbachal area of Rupganj when he was run over and killed early on Friday.
His classmates Mehedi Hasan Khan and Amit Saha were also severely injured.

Mubin Al Mamun, the son of former brigadier general Abdullah Al Mamun, was driving the car at the time.

After the incident, Mubin and his friends Mirajul and Asif were arrested. The next day, Mubin and Mirajul tested positive for drugs.    —bdnews24.com
