The hanging body of a young man was recovered from a tree in Khagrachhari's Dighinala upazila on Monday morning.
The dead was Md Hanif, 27, son of Md Jalal, a resident of Boalkhali union's ward no 8 under the upazila.
According to locals and relatives, they spotted the body hanging from a tree near 'Islam Shibir' graveyard and informed police. Later, police recovered the body and took it to Dighinala Police Station.
The dead's wife, Munni Akter, 23, said, "We had no enmity or quarrel with anyone. He was a member of Ansar and Village Defense Force (VDP). He had been missing since yesterday (Sunday) afternoon. This morning, we found his body hanging from a tree."
Dighinala Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Zakaria said the body was recovered from the scene and sent to Khagrachhari Modern District Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
