Ex-mayor Khokon, family barred from leaving country

A court has imposed a travel ban on former mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation Sayeed Khokon and his family members.

Following a prayer by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Court Judge Md Ibrahim Miah issued this order on Monday.

Earlier this morning, ACC deputy director (money laundering) Md Masudur Rahman submitted a petition seeking a ban on them to leave the country.

Mir Ahammad Ali Salam, public prosecutor of the anti-graft body, was present in the hearing.

There are huge allegation against Khokon, his mother Shahana Hanif, wife Farhana Sayeed and brother Jabed Ahmed over their bank transactions.

For fair investigation, their travel to other countries must be restricted, the petition said.
