Five bodies recovered from launch in Meghna

A total of five dead bodies and three critically injured people were recovered from an anchored launch on the Meghna River in Horina Ferryghat area of Chandpur on Monday.

Mohammad Mohsin Uddin, deputy commissioner of Chandpur, said that the incident had occurred on the Meghna River under Chandpur Sadar upazila in an area adjacent to Shariatpur.

Quoting Chandpur River Police, the DC said that five people died and three were found injured.

Sayed Mushfiqur Rahaman, superintendent of Chandpur River Police, said that the bodies were recovered from a launch named MV AL-Bakhera at 3PM on Monday. He said the reason behind the death could not be known immediately.

He said members of Coast Guard and River police are visiting the launch.
