Army arrests 26 alleged criminals in city

As part of assisting to the civil administration the members of Bangladesh Army with the help of locals detained 26 people in last five days from Tejgaon, Mohakhali, Dhanmondi, Mohammad-pur and Kamrangirchar areas in the capital.

"Several units under 46 separate infantry brigades conducted separate drives from December 18-22 in many areas in the capital and detained a total of 26 people for their alleged involvements in various criminal activities, including murder cases' convicts, drug dealers, identified extortionists and fake employers," said an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) release on Monday.

A huge amount of contraband drugs, sharp weapons and illegal money were recovered from their possessions during the drives where locals provided spontaneous cooperation in this connection, the ISPR added.    —BSS
