Police recovered the body of an employee from the store room of a rented house of BRTA office in Gaibandha.
The body was recovered on Monday (December 23) afternoon from the store room of one Ali Iqbal's house rented by District BRTA in Dakshin Dhanghara area under the municipality.
The dead was Shri Hriday Kumar, 24, son of Amulya Kumar of Koshahata village in Sirajganj district. Hriday worked in the store room at Gaibandha BRTA office. He used to live in a rented house at Shapla Mill area of the town with his wife, children and mother.
Police initially thought it was suicide, but relatives claimed it was a planned murder.
Hriday's mother Minti Rani said, 'No one has any dispute with Hriday. There was no problem in the family that the he will commit suicide. It is murder, systematically killing him by twisting a belt around the neck and chaining it to the door.'
Gaibandha Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shahinur Islam Talukder said on information, the body was recovered from the spot and sent to Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy. It is initially believed to be a suicide. Police and CID are seriously investigating the incident including analyzing the CCTV footage.
