Pharmacy owner fined for selling expired medicine in Gazipur

A mobile court has fined a pharmacy owner Tk 30,000 after two sacks of expired medicines were found in a pharmacy at Kaliganj upazila in Gazipur district on Tuesday afternoon. 

Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Executive Magistrate Tanima Afrad conducted the mobile court in the Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex area. 

The punished pharmacy owner is Md Sumon Miah, 35, son of Ibrahim Miah, a resident of Kaliganj municipal area. His pharmacy name is "Juboraz Medicine Corner". 

Tanima Afrad said that, based on secret information, a raid was carried out in the pharmacy, and found two sacks of expired and low-quality medicines were found. 

At that time, the owner of the shop was fined Tk 3,000 under Medicine and Cosmetics Act 2023.

During the operation, some officials of the upazila administration were present.
