The Anti-Corruption Commission has written to the Chief Advisor's Office seeking documents related to the Ashrayan Project, Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA), and Bangladesh Export Processing Zone Authority (BEPZA) to conduct an investigation against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina over alleged misuse of power, forgery, irregularity and corruption worth Tk 210 billion in those projects.

The ACC wrote to the Chief Advisor's Office on Tuesday seeking information on eight projects, ACC Public Relations Officer Akhtarul Islam told bdnews24.com.

In a letter to the chief advisor's office, the ACC asked for all documents and reports of any investigation done on eight projects and copies of the summary reports on project periods. The projects include the Mirsarai Economic Zone, Khurushkul Special Ashrayan Project, Mirsarai BEPZA Economic Zone, the Water Treatment Plant and Deep Tube Well Installation at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Industrial City, the Indian Economic Zone at Mirsarai, and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Industrial City Development Project.

On Dec 17, ACC decided to open investigations against deposed prime minister Hasina, her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, sister Sheikh Rehana and niece Tulip Siddiq over corruption allegations. A five-member probe team headed by ACC Deputy Director Md Salahuddin was formed the next day. The ACC also decided to conduct another investigation against Hasina and Joy over the siphoning of $300 million.

On Aug 5, former prime minister Hasina fled to India in the face of a student-led mass movement, bringing an end to 15 years of Awami League rule. Her sister Rehana was with her at the time.

Hasina's son Joy is an expatriate living in the US. He served Hasina as her information technology advisor for a long time.

Rehana's daughter Tulip is a member of parliament in the United Kingdom. After the Labour Party came to power, Tulip was appointed the economic secretary to the treasury.

The International Crimes Tribunal issued arrest warrants against Hasina, Rehana and Joy over allegations of 'genocide and other crimes against humanity' to suppress the student led mass movement. They have also been named in dozens of cases related to killings during the movement.
