BNP Vice Chairman Abdus Salam Pintu, set free after 17 years in jail on Tuesday vowed to continue the fight against injustice, oppression, terrorism and extortion.
He told reporters after paying homage at BNP founder Ziaur Rahman's grave in the capital after walking free from Kashimpur Central Jail, "We will not indulge in any wrongdoing of Awami League government. We want to build Bangladesh."
He requested BNP party leaders and activists to stay alert so that none can indulge inmisdeeds using Tarique Rahman's name.
Pintu said, "I was subjected to inhumane torture in last 17 years, leaving me unconscious even on court's balcony."
He expressed gratitude to the people for freeing him.
He said after BNP leaders and activists created the ground students ousted Hasina.
He said, "We have to sustain this success."
BNP Standing Committee Member Nazrul Islam Khan and Senior Joint Secretary Ruhul Kabir Rizvi were present.
Nazrul Islam Khan said, "India claims itself to be the world's largest democratic country. That's why we do not expect it to take Hasina's side or do anything to destroy its democratic image."
"We are delighted to have Pintu back among us, we feel much stronger. With his experience of working under h Maulana Bhashani, he will strengthen BNP," he said.
Nazrul Islam said, "Fascist Awami League government implicated lawyers, public representatives and ministers with militant cases and arms case was filed against Rizvi and me".
"History witnessed a fascist government's fall," said Nazrul.
Pintu, a former deputy minister walked out of the prison shortly after 11 am on Tuesday, greeted by an enthusiastic crowd of family members, party leaders and activists. They welcomed him with al garlands and celebratory processions.
He was arrested in connection with the much-talked-about grenade attack on an Awami League rally in 2004.
