The interim government will ahead towards elections only after reforming all the country's institutions destroyed by the fascist Awami League, said LGRD and Cooperatives Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan on Wednesday (December 25).
"So many people did not give their lives just only for an election or vote," he said.
He made the remark during a view exchange meeting with government officials and workers in Thakurgaon on Wednesday morning.
After that, he distributed winter clothes among the destitute.
Asif Mahmud said, "More than 2,000 people were martyred and over 20,000 people were injured during the recent student movement. The families of the victims are also talking about reforms. The interim government is being given a clear mandate that we will conduct the reform activities. You know that the commissions formed by the interim government are running out of time for 3 months. The commissions will submit proposals, then we will sit with you, the stakeholders, and make reforms and go towards the elections."
"The people of the northern region have not received the development they expected. During the previous government, development was focused only on specific areas. But I want to ensure that the importance and allocation for development in the northern region will be increased by eliminating area-based disparities," he further added.
