A Juba League activists Jahirul Islam Rubel has been on one-day remand over allegations of shooting at protesters during the anti-discrimination student movement on August 5.
Judge Faisal Tarek of Rajshahi Metropolitan Magistrate Court-1 pronounced the verdict on Tuesday as investigation officer of the case produced before the court filed with Boalia police station and prayed for a five-day remand, said Abdur Rafiq, court inspector of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police.
He said detective branch of RMP has been investigating the case.
Earlier, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Rubel from Cumilla on September 13 over allegations of shooting at protesters on August 5. He was then handed over to Boalia police the next day.
On September 15, he had been placed a 5-day remand in a case.
Meanwhile, in a video footage, Jahirul was seen holding two guns in his two hands and shooting at the protesters on August 5. Two students, Ali Raihan from Rajshahi College and Sakib Anjum from Barendra University, were killed in that incident, while 50 others were injured.
