Truck driver, helper killed in Dinajpur road crash

A truck driver and his associate were killed when a truck crashed into another stationary truck on Dinajpur-Gobindaganj regional highway in Ghoraghat upazila of Dinajpur early Wednesday morning.

The deceased were Ismail Hossain, 60, a resident of Sherpur in Bogura and his helper Babu Mia, 25.

According to the witnesses, a Bogura-bound paddy-laden truck collided with the stone-laden stationary truck around 5AM, leaving the driver of the paddy-laden truck dead the spot.

Critically injured Babu Mia was rushed to Ghoraghat Upazila Hospital and Shifted to Shaheed Zia Medical College Hospital in Bogura but he succumbed to his injuries on the way.

Sub-Inspector Sabbir of Ghoraghat Police Station said the driver of the parked truck fled with his vehicle.
