An expatriate doctor from Kabirhat upazila in Noakhali died of a heart attack at Boston Airport in the US state of Massachusetts while on his way back to Bangladesh.
The dead was Dr Omar Faruk Saber, 56, hailed from Batiya Mia house of Ward No-2 under Batiya Union of the upazila. He was a doctor by profession and the father of two daughters.
He died early Wednesday morning while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, USA.
The deceased's friend, Noakhali district BNP member Golam Momit Faisal, said Omar Faruk passed his medical degree from Dhaka Medical College in 1995. He was a meritorious student of the 45th batch of Dhaka Medical College. Then he migrated to America in 1998. There, he used to visit patients in several hospitals in the American city of Boston. On December 10, he arrived at the Boston airport in America to return home. There, he suffered a sudden heart attack. He had been in a coma for the past 15 days since then. He died at around 5 am local time on Wednesday.
The relatives of the deceased have sought the assistance of the interim government to bring his body back to the country.
