Four killed in road mishaps in 3 districts

Four people have been killed in separate road accidents in three districts- Dinajpur, Magura, and Kurigram on Wednesday.  

DINAJPUR: A truck driver and his associate were killed when a truck crashed into another stationary truck on Dinajpur-Gobindaganj regional highway in Ghoraghat Upazila of the district early Wednesday morning.

The deceased were identified as Ismail Hossain, 60, a resident of Sherpur in Bogura and his helper Babu Mia, 25.  
According to the witnesses, a Bogura-bound paddy-laden truck collided with the stone-laden stationary truck at about 5am, leaving the driver of the paddy-laden truck dead on the spot.

Critically injured Babu Mia was rushed to Ghoraghat Upazila Hospital. Then he was referred to Shaheed Zia Medical College Hospital in Bogura but he succumbed to his injuries on the way.

Sub-Inspector Sabbir of Ghoraghat Police Station (PS) said, the driver of the parked truck fled with his vehicle.

MAGURA: A septuagenarian was killed as a private car hit his bicycle in Katakhali area on the Magura-Jashore highway in Sadar Upazila of the district on Wednesday morning.

The deceased was identified as Nowsher Khan, 72, a resident of Sitarampur Village in Magura Municipality. 

Police said, the accident occurred at about 6am when he was going to Katakhali market. 

Critically injured Nowsher was taken to Magura Sadar Hospital where the duty doctor declared him dead.

KURIGRAM: A youth was killed as his motorised vehicle (Nosiman) overturned in Bhurungamari Upazila of the district on Wednesday.

The accident occurred at about 11am in Bagbhandar Village in the Sadar Union.  

The deceased was identified as Rasel Mia, 25, son of Azizul Haque from the same village.  

According to reports, Rasel left home in the morning to transport soil by his vehicle. As he approached Camp Mor area on the Bhurungamari-Bagbhandar road, the vehicle lost control and overturned. Rasel was trapped beneath the overturned vehicle.

Locals rushed to rescue him and brought him to Bhurungamari Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared him dead upon arrival. 
 
Dr ASM Sayem, upazila health and family planning officer, said, Rasel passed away on the way to the hospital. 
Investigation Officer Bhurungamari PS Nandalal Chowdhury confirmed the incident.
