BNP Vice-Chairman Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaikobad, a five-time elected parliament member (MP) from Cumilla-3 (Muradnagar) and former minister, is set to return home on December 28 after 13 years of self-exile.

In this regard, massive preparations have been made by the people of Muradnagar including the leaders and activists of BNP to welcome the former MP. On this occasion, the villages of entire upazila have been covered with banners and festoons to welcome him.

Besides, thousands of people from Cumilla and Dhaka would be present at the Dhaka airport to welcome him. To make the programme successful, the local leaders and activists have been arranging views-exchange meetings and rallies in the area regularly.

In continuation of this, journalists were informed about the overall preparations to welcome Kaikobad at a press briefing at the upazila headquarters on Wednesday under the banner of Sacheton Muradnagarbasi.

Harunur Rashid, a retired Army officer, delivered the written speech while retired principals of various colleges of Muradnagar, retired army and police officers, doctors, lawyers and other dignitaries including retired major general Md Shahjahan, retired captain Harunur Rashid, retired army officer Helal Uddin, Abdus Salam, Nazrul Islam and retired Air Force officer Abdur Rahim Munshi were present on the occasion.

In a written statement, Harunur Rashid said that the people of Muradnagar are waiting for him to return. Kazi Kaikobad will arrive at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 11am on December 28. From there, he will visit the mausoleum of BNP founder Ziaur Rahman and the graves of his parents in Muradnagar.

Thousands of people are preparing to go to Dhaka in a few hundred vehicles to welcome Kaikobad.
He expressed the hope that his arrival would turn the day into a city of gatherings. However, around his arrival, the fascist Awami League and its allies have already been engaged in various conspiracies.

Seeking the government's cooperation in this regard, Harunur Rashid said that, in the 2008 election arranged by the Moeen Uddin and Fakhruddin government, Awami League was made victorious by counting the votes of the Dhaner Shish (paddy sheaf) as AL's Boast's vote in a planned way across the country. Even at that time, people of Muradnagar were ensured counting the votes of Cumilla-3 seats properly and Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaikobad was elected a member of parliament for the 5th time.

The fascist Awami League is convinced that 'it is not possible to win the boat in Muradnagar if Kaikobad cannot be crushed. Main agenda of Awami League was to stop Kaikobad. That is why in 2010, the fallen fascist Sheikh Hasina stood up in parliament and made a mockery of former minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaikobad and made a fictitious statement linking him to the BDR killings. After that, the names of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaikobad were added to the third charge-sheet in the August 21, 2004 grenade attack case, he added.

Harun claimed that a judge loyal to Awami League sentenced Kaikobad to life imprisonment without any witness evidence. His family members were also harassed on several occasions. But the truth is never hidden. BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and Vice-Chairman Kaikobad were acquitted in the case.

"That is why, on that day, there was a flood of joy all over Muradnagar on the release of Kaikobad, who is our Dada (brother)", he further said.
