Govt set to invite Elon Musk to investment summit in coming April

The government is set to invite Elon Musk, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison to join the international investment summit in Dhaka in April, 2025.

Under the supervision of the Chief Adviser's office, Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) is set to conduct the summit to attract investment from global business tycoons.

"By this time, we sent the invitation letter to Elon Musk's office, however, his senior security adviser visited Dhaka recently," an official said.

The Bangladesh Invest-ment Development Authority (BIDA) will serve as the main organiser of the summit, with full support from the government and administrative bodies, he added.

BIDA plans to make a path for Bangladesh's IT sector with the Musk's Artificial Intelligence (AI) programme.

"The government is highly optimistic about Elon Musk's participation," the official said, adding that preparations are already underway, with a proposed 3-day agenda and a curated guest list.

Musk, who recently set a new milestone in global economics, became the first individual to amass a fortune of US $400 billion, according to a Bloomberg report.

His wealth has surged due to the market growth of his companies, Tesla and SpaceX, propelling him to the top spot on the list of the world's richest individuals.

The investment summit is tentatively scheduled for mid-April.
