Bodies of two missing tourists found in Karnaphuli

The bodies of two tourists, who went missing after drowning in the Karnaphuli River in Rangamati's Kaptai, have been recovered after 42 hours.

The bodies were found floating at around 7:30 am on Thursday (December 26) at Sita Ghat section of the river under Chitmarom Union of the upazila.
The deceased were Priyanta Das, 16, and Shaon Dutta, 17, residents of Chittagong.

Kaptai Wagga UP member Sarwar Hossain said that on Tuesday, a group of nine tourists from Chittagong city brought a boat to Sita Ghat on the Karnaphuli River. Later in the afternoon, three of them went down to bathe in the river. At one point, two tourists drowned in the river and went missing. Their bodies were found floating in the same place on Thursday morning.

Kaptai Fire Service Team Leader Nazrul Islam said on information they quickly arrived and recovered the bodies floating 100 yards from the bank of the river.

Chandraghona Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Muhammad Shahjahan Kamal confirmed it.
